Marketing Opportunities

The North Bay Y Titans Swim Team is a not for profit competitive swim club that is run by parent volunteers.  Its origins date back to 1967 and coincide with the construction of the Centennial Pool.  Over the past four decades, the team has evolved and developed thousands of North Bay and area youth by honing their swim skills; fostering self discipline and a strong work ethic.  More importantly, it has helped in the development of good citizens and leaders in all walks of life.

The Titans Swim Team is a registered club with Swim Ontario, the provincial sport governing body, and competes in the Northeastern Region (NEOR) of Ontario, and with Swim Canada, the national sport governing body. Through these affiliations, our athletes are registered to compete provincially and nationally.

The club, now in its 43rd year, hires professional swim coaches to provide excellent training and has achieved remarkable results.  Currently, the club has over 70 swimmers that range from ages six to 18 years from our introductory level to our senior level, competing at provincial, national and international events.

Throughout the history of the club, there have been many successes – both on individual and team levels.  The Titans organization has watched many swimmers grow up achieving personal bests as well as successes on regional, provincial, national and international levels.  Recently, swimmers have represented our club at the 2010 Ontario Summer Games in Sudbury, Senior and Junior Nationals, 2009 Youth Olympics in Australia, North American Challenge Cup and the 2008 Olympic Trials.  Often, many of our swimmers leave the club to go to university on scholarships.

Our club’s head coach, Dr. Cliff Noth started his career in coaching in 1983 with the Canadian Dolphin Swim Club (now the Pacific Dolphins), one of Canada’s premiere swim teams.  He was a national development coach with them through to the 1988 Olympic Trials and coached with some of the greatest minds in the swimming world.  After that he was positioned to run his own program and coach with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.  He decided to go back to school and attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto.  While attending school, he was coaching for the North York Aquatic Club and the University of Toronto.  When he moved his family to North Bay, Ontario he began coaching with the North Bay Titans.  He has be named a Provincial Mentor Coach and selected to several provincial team coaching staffs.  In January 2009, he was selected by Swimming Canada to head coach the Canadian National Youth team at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

The Titans swim team prides itself in catering to the needs of those swimmers who simply enjoy swimming as healthy exercise to those who thrive on competition and have Olympic aspirations.  The Titans are also very much about camaraderie, team spirit and friendship.

Our Coaching Staff:

Colette Wilson

Colette has been involved in aquatics for the past 20 years, coaching with the Titans for the past 4.  She was formally the head coach of the North Bay Y Synchronized Swim Team in North Bay, coaching several provincial level athletes.  She is also involved in teaching and examining for the Royal Lifesaving Society.  Colette is a grade school teacher in the Nipissing area and is instrumental in coaching the basics to young swimmers on the team.

Dana Corbeil

North Bay Y Titan Swim Team Levels:

Level 1 – National Group

Coach:  Dr. Cliff Noth

This is a group designed for the dedicated swimmer who is working at the Provincial and Age Group National level with focus on qualifying at the Senior National level.  This is the top training group on the team, trains 15 hours a week and requires 85% attendance to remain in the group.  A dry-land cross-training program has been developed in co-ordination with Step by Step Fitness Solutions in North Bay.

Level 1A – Provincial and National Development Group

Coach:  Dr. Cliff Noth

These swimmers are focusing on qualifying for Junior Provincials and Age Group nationals or Eastern Canadian Championships.  These athletes should have a majority of pre-provincial times and are closing in on Junior Provincial times.  This group trains 15 hours a week and requires 80% attendance to practices.  Good work ethic and effort on a day to day basis is also required.  This group will focus on making the adjustment from one to two practices daily.

Level 2 – Pre-provincial Development Group

Coach:  Mary Rodgers and Dana Corbeil

This is a group designed for the dedicated swimmer who is at the developmental or pre-provincial level and is working towards more pre-provincial or junior provincial times.  Some younger junior provincial qualifiers will also train in this group.  The goal of this group is to improve the fitness and skill level of the swimmers and introduce the swimmers to morning practices.  While the focus is still on skill development, more and more is done to help with race strategies and race fitness.  The training at this level includes an increase in the amount of distance that the athlete will train as well as learning to increase dedication to the sport.

Level 3 – Regional Development Group

Coach:  Mary Rodgers and Dana Corbeil

This is a group designed for the swimmer who is at the development level and working towards the pre-provincial qualifying times.  The goal of the level is to improve skills of the swimmers and introduce some training concepts.  While the focus is still on skill development, more and more is done to improve their speed and fitness levels.  With many opportunities to compete at local and out of town swim meets, the emphasis at this level will be to have fun while learning the essentials of a great sport.

Level 4 – Grass Roots – Future Olympians

Coaches:  Samantha Crossley and Colette Wilson

This is a group designed for the swimmer who is new to the sport of competitive swimming.  This is a skill orientated level where the swimmers will learn the basics of competitive swimming and be given several opportunities to compete locally.  It is a fun environment with the skills of the sport intertwined.  There is no pressure to attend swim meets unless the swimmer is interested.  It is at this level where the swimmer is introduced to all the basics of the sport like the four different strokes, starts and turns.  Our goal is to keep it a fun and relaxed environment that will encourage the swimmer to move on in the sport

Marketing Opportunities

North Bay Titans are busy setting up for another exciting year of sharpening their skills and preparing for various swim meets all over Ontario.  Each year the team attends over 20 swim meets that attract hundreds of swimmers and spectators.  Additionally, with our Titans Invitational Swim Meet, hosting of Northeastern Ontario Region (NEOR) swim meet in February and our club time trials, the Titans will host hundreds of swimmers and their families to our area.

The North Bay Titans are recognized and respected for both its successes in the pool and for its high athlete standards outside of the pool.  This club may be the ideal marketing venue for your product or service with excellent opportunities to target the market of young men and women, from children to young adults, as well as to athlete parents and families.

The Titans offers a range of sponsorship levels that will allow you to promote your products or services both within our club and beyond the pool. Forms of sponsorship can be financial or in-kind.  Receipts will be issued to your organization recognizing your contribution.  Through our Annual Club Sponsorship Program, Swim-A-Thon or Club Meet Sponsor Programs, you can help our local swimmers achieve excellence and personal bests.  These programs that run from September to July are designed to help our athletes and to provide value for your organization.  Sponsorship will be recognized for a year from the date the sponsorship was received by the Titans Club.

Annual Club Sponsorship Opportunities:

Ensuring our swimmers receive the best training opportunities and successes throughout the year is no small task. From training equipment needs, to hosting our own swim meets and time trials, to travelling sometimes great distances to get to swim meets present opportunities for businesses to help cover the everyday costs our athletes face.  By helping our swimmers, your organization can be recognized on our website, monthly newsletters, swimmer board in the upstairs viewing area of the YMCA pool and with your logo on current Titans swag.

Swim Meet Sponsorship Opportunities:

Each year, the Titans host our invitational swim meet.  This meet is a three day event that draws 250 swimmers and their families from all over Northeastern Ontario.

This year, the Titans are excited to be asked to host the Northeastern Ontario Region (NEOR) swim meet in February.  This is a two day event that will see 250 swimmers and their families to North Bay and to our pool.

Swim meets are a great way to help promote your organization with Title Sponsorship, recognition on meet programs and media attention as well as through our website, newsletters and your logo on swim meet apparel for our swimmers.

In-kind contributions:

The North Bay Titans recognizes and welcomes in-kind sponsorship as well.  If you feel that your organization is better able to contribute through in-kind opportunities, please talk to us!  Again, this contribution will also be recognized with a tax receipt; website and newsletter articles, and your company logo on Titan swag.
